Skip the Checkout Page

Lemon Squeezy asks for the email and card anyway, so the WooCommerce checkout form is a second form for the same thing. Turn on Skip the Checkout Page and the cart button goes straight to Lemon Squeezy, or the overlay. Every way into the checkout leads there, the mini cart and your theme's own buttons too.

The order is still made in WooCommerce, with coupons, fees and taxes. The buyer's name and email come back with the payment, so your WooCommerce emails and downloads reach them. Leave without paying and the cart is still full.

Carts that need shipping, free carts, and shops where buyers need an account keep the normal checkout page.

Lemon Squeezy Can Bill It.

Lemon Squeezy charges every renewal. WooCommerce Subscriptions records each one as a paid renewal order, so everything you built on it keeps working.

Your licence and membership plugins keep working

A lot of licence, membership and course plugins wait for WooCommerce Subscriptions to say a renewal was paid. When Lemon Squeezy charges the card, the plugin makes that renewal order in WooCommerce and marks it paid. WooCommerce Subscriptions then fires its usual hooks, the same as with any other gateway.

Changes go both ways

A failed card puts the subscription on hold, and a payment Lemon Squeezy recovers later makes it active again. Cancel, suspend or reactivate it in WooCommerce, or let the customer do it from My Account, and it happens at Lemon Squeezy too. The next payment date follows Lemon Squeezy.

A shop owner asked me before buying if it fires the WooCommerce Subscriptions hooks for their licence plugin. So I built it in.

Coupons come off the first payment

A WooCommerce coupon on a subscription comes off the first payment only, the way WooCommerce does it. The buyer pays $39.00 today and Lemon Squeezy charges the full $49.00 at every renewal. Selling subscriptions without WooCommerce Subscriptions? One setting keeps the coupon on every renewal instead.

No WooCommerce Subscriptions? You don't need it.

Lemon Squeezy can run the subscription on its own. The plugin keeps the order, the status and the next renewal date up to date, and your customers get Manage Subscription and Update Payment Method buttons on their order page.

What it can sell this way

One subscription per order, linked to a Lemon Squeezy subscription that renews on the same schedule. Lemon Squeezy charges the same amount every time, so free trials, sign-up fees and a fixed renewal day are not supported. The product's edit screen tells you if a product is ready, or why not.

When Lemon Squeezy generates a license key for a sale, the plugin catches it via webhook and stores it right on the WooCommerce order. The key, its status, the activation limit and the expiry date show on your customer's order page and in their order email, and the key goes into the order notes for you. Is there a monthly fee?

No. Install Pro next to the free version and activate it. On its first page load Pro brings over your API key, store, checkout settings, every product link and your Lemon Squeezy order numbers, and it keeps answering the webhook address you set up for the free version. Then you can delete the free version.

If your theme works with WooCommerce, it'll work with this plugin. It uses WooCommerce's standard payment gateway system.
How do webhooks work?
▼
When something happens in Lemon Squeezy (payment received, subscription cancelled, license key generated, etc.), they send a notification to your site. The plugin verifies it's legit using HMAC signatures and updates the order accordingly. You can auto-register your webhook with one click from the settings page.
Can I test it first?

Yes. Switch your Lemon Squeezy dashboard to test mode, make an API key there, and run test payments with test cards before going live. With a live API key every payment is real.
What about HPOS?

The plugin is fully compatible with WooCommerce's High-Performance Order Storage. It also still works with the traditional storage system.
Lemon Squeezy sends cart reminder emails. Do they work with this plugin?
▼
Yes. When a buyer leaves without paying, Lemon Squeezy can send up to three reminder emails over three days (you turn them on under Settings, Recovery in Lemon Squeezy). Their button opens the payment link for that same WooCommerce order, and the plugin keeps that link open for 7 days. If someone pays an old link after the order was already paid, the order is not counted twice: it gets a note so you can refund the second payment.
Does it support variable products?

Yes. You can assign a different Lemon Squeezy variant ID to each WooCommerce product variation. If a variation doesn't have its own variant ID, the plugin falls back to the parent product's ID.
What's the difference between overlay and redirect checkout?

Overlay mode opens Lemon Squeezy's checkout as a popup right on your site, so customers never leave your store. Redirect mode sends customers to Lemon Squeezy's hosted checkout page. Both work the same way on the backend. You can switch between them anytime in settings.
Can buyers skip the WooCommerce checkout page?

Yes. Turn on Skip the Checkout Page and the cart goes straight to Lemon Squeezy (or the overlay), which asks for the email and card. The order is still made in WooCommerce with coupons, fees and taxes, and the buyer's name and email come back with the payment. Carts that need shipping, free carts, and shops where buyers need an account keep the normal checkout page. Anything only the checkout page asks for, like a terms checkbox, is skipped with it.
How does license key delivery work?

When Lemon Squeezy generates a license key for an order, it sends a webhook to your site. The plugin stores the key, its status, the activation limit and the expiry date on the WooCommerce order. Your customer sees them on their order page and in the order email, and you see the key in the order notes.
Can I process refunds?

Yes. Just refund the order in WooCommerce like normal. The plugin will send the refund request to Lemon Squeezy automatically.
Does it handle subscriptions?
▼
Yes. Lemon Squeezy runs the subscription and the plugin syncs every event to the WooCommerce order: creation, updates, cancellations, pauses, unpauses, resumes, expirations, and payment successes, failures and recoveries. Your customers get Manage Subscription and Update Payment Method buttons on their order page. You don't need WooCommerce Subscriptions for this.
Does it work with WooCommerce Subscriptions?

Yes. If you sell WooCommerce Subscriptions products, Lemon Squeezy charges each renewal and the plugin records it as a paid renewal order, so WooCommerce Subscriptions fires its usual hooks (woocommerce_subscription_renewal_payment_complete and the rest) and licence or membership plugins built on them keep working. Failed and recovered payments, pauses, cancellations and the next payment date stay in step, and a cancel or suspend in WooCommerce reaches Lemon Squeezy too. Lemon Squeezy charges the same amount every time, so it works for one subscription per order on the same schedule as its Lemon Squeezy variant, without free trials, sign-up fees or a fixed renewal day. A coupon on the first payment works.
Do WooCommerce coupons work?

Yes. On one-time products the buyer pays the coupon price. On subscriptions the coupon comes off the first payment only, like in WooCommerce, and renewals charge the full price. If you sell subscriptions without WooCommerce Subscriptions, one setting keeps the coupon on every renewal instead. You can also enter one Lemon Squeezy discount code in the settings to put it on every checkout.
Can I customize how the checkout looks?

Yes. Dark mode, show store logo and show product image are toggles in the plugin settings, and you can set the checkout language or let it follow the buyer's browser. When one order holds different products, the checkout can show your Lemon Squeezy store logo or one of your Lemon Squeezy product images instead of the image of just one product.
When a customer buys several items, what does Lemon Squeezy's receipt show?

Every item, with its price. Lemon Squeezy sells one product per payment, so the plugin sends the whole WooCommerce order as one payment at the order total and writes every item with its quantity and price into the receipt email, then any discount, shipping, fees and tax. For different products, the receipt's button opens the order in your shop, where every file downloads. Make one product in Lemon Squeezy named "Order" with your logo, sync it, and choose it under Product for Several Products: Lemon Squeezy's email, order page and invoice then show "Order" at the total instead of one of your products. Lemon Squeezy's invoice has one line per payment, so the item list is in the receipt and in the WooCommerce order. The item list and the "Order" product are Pro features: the free version on WordPress.org sends a plain thank you note.
