One configurator can sell on one product, on every product in some categories, on every product in the shop, or on any page, the homepage included, with no product behind it. This page shows each, and which one wins when two apply.
Open the product, then Product data, General. The Configurator list has three kinds of choice:
A configurator still in draft shows in the list as “draft, not shown yet”, so you can set up the product before it goes live.
ConfigKit works on simple products. A variable product keeps its own variations and never gets a configurator, not even from a category or shop rule. The configurator does the job variations do, with any number of choices, so make the product simple and put the choices in the configurator.
In the builder, click Price and settings, then the Where tab. On products lists the products that chose this configurator themselves. Under On categories, tick the product categories it covers (their sub-categories come with them), or switch on Every product in the shop. Save it live and every product those rules reach gets the configurator, without opening each product.
When two live configurators are set for the same category, or both for the whole shop, the older one wins.
Edit the page, add a block and search for Configurator. Pick which configurator it shows. It appears on the page with its live price and its own Add to basket button.
For page builders and older themes, use the shortcode (in a page builder, use its Shortcode widget). The Where tab shows it under On any page or the homepage, with a Copy button, once the configurator has been saved: , with your configurator’s number.
WooCommerce needs a product for every basket line, so the first time a configurator is used on a page, ConfigKit makes a hidden product for it. You never need to touch it: it is hidden from the shop and from search, its own page sends visitors to the shop, it is left out of sitemaps (WordPress, Yoast and Rank Math), and it cannot be added to the basket without the configurator’s choices. Orders show the configurator’s name on the line.
After a good add from a page, the customer goes to the basket, and the basket line links back to the page they came from.
In Price and settings, Selling, switch on “Customers can set up several pieces and add them together”. An Add another piece button then shows next to the buy button: the finished piece goes into a list, Pieces ready to add, with Change and Remove, and the form starts again. When the customer adds to the basket, every piece goes in together, each on its own line with its own price. If one piece is not right, none are added, so the basket never holds half an order. Up to 50 pieces at a time.
